Rosemary A. Martino

Over thirty years of academic health center experience, a background in the biological sciences, first-hand experience in research and clinical trials, and an MBA from Columbia University underpin Rosemary Martino’s leadership experience in strategic planning, finance, administration, research and operations.

Prior to joining CBO Partners, Ms. Martino served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Administration and Research Development at New York Medical College (1995-2008) and Executive Dean of the Grand Rapids Campus for Michigan State University. In her 13 years at NYMC, her responsibilities included financial management of the medical school budget; space, capital and resource allocation; strategic planning and development of the College’s research development plan and research faculty recruitment; operational oversight of the medical schools 45 academic and administrative departments, and institutional research.

As Executive Dean at MSU (2008 – 2010), Ms. Martino was recruited to facilitate the development of all policies and functions necessary to establish a complete expansion campus of the medical school in Grand Rapids, as well as to effectively integrate these offices with those on the East Lansing campus. In collaboration with the College’s executive leadership team and its external partners (hospitals, universities and research institutes) she was responsible for strategic planning of programs and key new initiatives, and for building relationships for MSU in the greater Grand Rapids community.

Ms. Martino has also held significant roles in hospital administration. As Senior VP at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, NY, (2011 – 2013) she directed the effort to implement patient centered care delivery models at both system hospitals and to develop an Independent Practice Association and assist community practitioners in meeting directives of the Affordable Care Act.

Sound Shore Health System’s entities were acquired by the Montefiore Health System in November of 2013, and Ms. Martino subsequently was appointed Director of Business Development. In her current position, her duties include the development, assessment and implementation of initiatives that promote the financial viability and clinical service integration of Montefiore New Rochelle and Mount Vernon Hospitals and the Schaffer Extended Care Center.

Ms. Martino’s career began in basic science research at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons (1980-1984). Between 1984 and 1995, she rapidly transitioned through progressively senior administrative leadership positions at Columbia P & S in Orthopaedics, Radiation Oncology and as Administrative Director of the Irving Center for Clinical Research.

Ms. Martino holds a BS in Biology from Adelphi University and an MBA from Columbia University.
