Kathleen M. Quinn, RN, MBA

With twenty years of progressive management experience in both integrated health delivery systems and academic health systems, coupled with ten years acute care clinical experience, Kathleen offers a broad set of leadership and management skills.

Kathleen began her health care career as a Registered Nurse at the University of Virginia in 1984, with most of her clinical experience in cardiac areas. In 1992, she was honored to be elected as the first President of the Professional Nursing Staff.

At the University of Virginia, Kathleen also held positions in the School of Medicine – as the Director of Outpatient Services for the Department of Medicine, and with the Health Services Foundation (now University Physicians Group) as the Director of the Practice Management Services Division. In this latter role, she was the senior administrator for the UVA Regional Primary Care practices – purchasing and integrating freestanding practices into the University’s systems.

From 2000-2008, Kathleen held various positions at the University of California at San Francisco including Administrative Director of the Departments of Orthopedics and Women’s Health, and the Executive Director for Ambulatory Care Services.

Most recently, Kathleen served as the Medical Group Administrator for Kaiser Permanente’s Redwood City Medical Center from 2008 – 2013. As the senior administrator for the 225 FTE medical group, she was accountable for inspiring, aligning and mobilizing people and activities; redesigning workflows and systems; and driving performance to enhance the patient experience by improving access, quality and service.

Kathleen has been very active in MGMA, and specifically the Academic Practice Assembly – serving on the Executive Committee and chairing the Program Committee for the APA National Conference in 2007. She also served as the Chair of the Ambulatory Care Administrators subgroup of the APA.

Kathleen holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Niagara University, and a Masters of Business Administration from James Madison University. Additionally, she has completed Executive Education courses in leadership at the University of Virginia’s Darden School, and the Harvard Business School.
